Volunteer Opportunities

We all have benefited from the work done by others to improve our lives, both generally and genealogically. It is therefore our responsibility to give back to our communities, both locally and globally. Below are opportunities for volunteer work and philanthropy. There are projects to fit every skill level, and these can be achieved in the comfort of your own home. Most of these projects are PC-based, but there are work-arounds, if you are willing to spend a little extra set-up time.

The basic gist is that you are given a set of digital images of documents. Using forms provided by the website, you can type/transcribe the pertinent data from the images, thereby making them searchable by thousands of researchers around the world.

Indexing Project has a variety of projects from around the world.

The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum's World Memory Project is working to make millions of documents, seized from the Nazis, searchable and viewable to the world, containing information about victims and survivors.
